ALICE BOCHŇÁKOVÁ |
Alice Bochňáková is above all a mother of three small children and it is almost incredible that even with this load, she
finds time for such a demanding photographic field. Works with models, costumes, painted coulisses, number of
decorations, a complicated arrangement and this all under water. Models must face sore eyes, lack of air, cold, motion
of decorations and costumes, on top of that manipulation with complicated light and photographic technologies. No
wonder that the most patient and thus most photographed model is Alice's own eight-year old daughter Barunka. The idea
of photographing people under water in an untraditional conception, with an accent on the effect of the light refraction
and a strange spread of light under water occurred to me some day in 1995,” says the author and continues: “ But from
the idea to its realization, it was a long way to go. But during the work under water, I was so much impressed by the
motion of hairs, arms, of the whole body, of the costumes, and the expression of the photographed persons itself, that I
felt a strong desire to capture their naturalness and peculiarity and at the same time to make visible their strong
points and emotions.” All photographies were made without any „computer“ tricks. It is obvious that the resulting art
pieces were created on the basis of complex skills of the author. After many years of diving, she has acquired
professional experiences in various localities both at home and abroad including the islands of the Japanese Okinawa.
The shown works prove that Alice Bochňáková masters both these skills, diving and photographing, so excellently that
even under water, she can remain undisturbed and fully concentrate on realization of her magnificent artistic vision. |
